Through subterfuge that kept promises hidden, the Kingdom of Italy entered the Great War on the side of the Allies. The aim of the italians was to take back austrian held territories in the north of the Italian peninsula. Famously fighting in the twelve battles of the Isonzo in 1915, the italian infantry unfortunatley lacked in morale and fighting in Italy stabilized into trench warfare.
